Bring Us the Form. We'll Help You Sort It Out.

School and Placement Health Requirements — Reviewed, Completed, and Documented at JEMA.

Starting a program, placement, practicum, or clinical rotation can come with a long list of health requirements — and the forms aren't always written in a way that makes it obvious what you actually need to do.

You might need vaccine records reviewed, TB testing completed, bloodwork arranged, missing immunizations updated, mask fit testing done, or simply someone to explain what the form is asking for before you can figure out your next step.

JEMA helps students understand what's required, what's missing, and what needs to happen next — so you can get this part done and get on with the placement you've been working toward.

You don't need to have it figured out before you contact us.

That's what we're here for.

WE'VE SEEN YOUR FORM BEFORE

Whatever Your Form Is Asking for, We've Probably Seen It.

School, placement, and clinical program forms come in dozens of formats — and they ask for things in ways that aren't always easy to interpret. "Proof of immunity" isn't the same as "vaccination record." "Titre testing required" isn't always obvious to someone who hasn't had one before. Forms from some programs ask for specific dates and documentation that clients genuinely can't locate.

JEMA reviews forms like this every day. Our team can tell you what the form is actually asking for, what you already have that counts, what's genuinely missing, and what needs to happen to get it submitted correctly — the first time.

If your deadline is close, tell us when you contact us. We won't promise we can do everything, but we won't waste your time either.

Services for students

Student Health Services at JEMA

Here's what JEMA can help students complete. If you're not sure which service you need, start with a consultation or contact us — we'll help you figure out the right starting point.

01

School and Placement Forms

Most students come to JEMA with a form — or the feeling that they need one but aren't sure where to get it.

JEMA helps students understand and complete health-related forms for school, placements, practicums, clinical rotations, and workplace programs. We can review your form, identify what's already done and what's missing, complete the services JEMA is equipped to provide, and help you understand what needs to happen elsewhere.

If your records are incomplete, from another province, or from another country, that's fine — bring what you have and we'll work from there.

02

Immunization Record Review

If your school or placement requires proof of vaccination, JEMA can review your records and help determine what's complete, what's missing, and what needs to happen next.

This comes up more often than students expect. Records get lost, doses from childhood don't always make it into the official record, vaccines received in other provinces or countries don't always match what a NL form is looking for, and the difference between "vaccinated" and "immune" sometimes requires a titre test to confirm.

If you were born in Newfoundland and Labrador and need your childhood immunization records, you'll need to request them from Public Health Records before your appointment — it's worth doing this early if you think records might be incomplete.

03

TB Testing

JEMA offers TB testing for students who need it for school, college, university, healthcare programs, clinical placements, volunteer roles, or workplace-related requirements.

JEMA uses the TST (Mantoux skin test) for TB testing. A return visit is required within 48 hours for the reading to be assessed and documented. JEMA will explain the timing at your appointment — and if your placement start date is tight, let us know when you book so we can plan accordingly.

04

Mask Fit Testing

Mask fit testing confirms that a respirator — most commonly an N95 — fits securely and provides an appropriate seal for the individual wearing it. Many healthcare, nursing, and clinical placement programs require documented proof of fit testing before students can begin.

JEMA completes the required fit test and provides the documentation your school, placement site, or employer needs for their records.

05

Bloodwork & Urine Testing

Some school and placement forms require bloodwork, titre testing, or urine collection. JEMA provides blood and urine collection for students who need testing for school, placement, occupational health, or other documentation requirements.

If your form or instructions aren't clear about what's being requested, bring them. We can review what's needed, explain the process, and make sure the right tests are completed correctly before you leave.

06

Vaccines and Catch-Up Immunizations

JEMA offers a full range of vaccines for students, including routine, school, workplace, and preventive immunizations. Our team can review your vaccine history, identify missing doses or incomplete series, and update your records.

Vaccines that commonly come up for students include: Hepatitis B · MMR · Varicella · Tdap · Tdap-IPV · Polio · Influenza · COVID-19 · HPV / Gardasil · Meningococcal ACYW-135 · Meningitis B  — and others depending on your program, placement, and health history.

Vaccine availability may vary — contact the clinic before booking if you need a specific vaccine confirmed.

What to bring to your student health appointment

The More You Can Bring, the More Useful Your Appointment Will Be. Don't Let Missing Records Stop You From Booking.

If you have them, please bring:

  • your school, placement, or program form,

  • any vaccine or immunization records,

  • previous TB test records if applicable,

  • bloodwork or titre results if you have them,

  • any instructions from your school or placement coordinator, and

  • your deadline date if there is one.

If you don't have all of this — or any of it — still contact us. JEMA can work with whatever records are available and help you figure out what the gaps are and how to address them.

In front of her is a laptop on a white table with a few books underneath. Behind her, there is a dark couch with colorful patterned pillows and a wall with a display of various items or decorations. Large windows and a decorative sculpture are visible in the background.
