We Look at Your Full Trip & Planned Activities.
Not Just Lookup Your Destination.
Getting ready to travel? JEMA provides the personalized health guidance, vaccines, and documentation you need before you go — based on your actual itinerary, not a generic checklist.
We also support students, workers, newcomers, families, and employers navigating health requirements. Whatever brought you here, we'll help you leave with a clear plan.
Your Trip Deserves More Than a Destination Look Up.
Travel health is rarely as simple as looking up a country and checking a vaccine list.
Where you're going matters. So does how long you're staying, where you're sleeping, what you'll be eating, what you'll be doing, whether you're travelling through other countries on the way, and what your vaccine and medical history looks like.
At JEMA, We Look at All of It.
That means the guidance you leave with actually fits the trip you planned — and you can spend the rest of your prep thinking about the parts that are worth looking forward to.
HOW JEMA CAN HELP
Most People Come to JEMA With One of Three Situations. Here's Where to Start.
Going somewhere?
Travel Health Services
Whether you're planning a vacation, cruise, work trip, mission trip, humanitarian project, backpacking adventure, or long-term travel — JEMA helps you understand exactly what's recommended for your specific itinerary.
We review your destination, route, activities, timing, and health history. You leave knowing what you need, why it matters, and what to do before you go.
Starting school, a placement, or a new job?
Student & Workplace Services
Placement forms and workplace health requirements can be confusing — especially when you're not sure what's actually required versus what's optional.
JEMA helps students and workers make sense of the paperwork, complete the testing and vaccines that are needed, and submit documentation that's right the first time.

New to Canada, or need help navigating the system?
Newcomer Health Support
If you're new to Newfoundland and Labrador and not sure where your vaccines stand, JEMA can review your records, explain what's needed for school, work, or everyday protection, and help you figure out the next steps — wherever you're starting from.
The Clinic Other Clinics Call
Jema Has Been Part of Travel Health in Newfoundland and Labrador Since 2001.
The clinic was founded by Margot Mayo, a registered nurse who helped establish travel medicine as a recognized specialty in the province — at a time when those services simply weren't available through public health. Margot spent decades building a reputation on one principle: take the time, explain it clearly, and make sure every patient leaves better prepared than when they arrived.
Angela Parsons, JEMA's current owner, trained alongside Margot before taking over the clinic. That handover wasn't incidental — it was deliberate. Angela brings a nursing background across emergency, ICU, surggery, organ donation, and long-term care, and a genuine passion for travel medicine that led her to JEMA in the first place. She's continued everything that made the clinic worth coming back to, and built on it.
That history matters — not as a milestone, but as a reason to trust.
When other healthcare providers in the province need guidance on travel health for their patients, they call JEMA. JEMA’s travel medicine services are led by Angela Parsons, BNRN, CTH®, who holds the Certificate in Travel Health™ through the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM). This internationally recognized travel medicine credential reflects specialized knowledge in travel health care and consultation.
When clients have been sent in circles by pharmacies or general practitioners, they end up here. When someone wants an actual answer instead of a destination lookup, this is where they come.
Twenty-five years of that. Still going.

PLAIN LANGUAGE. REAL ANSWERS. NO PRESSURE.
People Come to JEMA Because They Want Accurate Information.
They Come Back Because They Feel Cared For.
Our team explains things in plain language, takes concerns seriously, and makes sure you understand the reasoning behind every recommendation — not just the conclusion. If something isn't needed for your situation, we'll tell you that too. The job is to give you what you actually need, clearly, so you can make an informed decision and move on to the part you're looking forward to.
And yes — if you're nervous about needles, you're in very good company. We're known for being calm, thorough, and genuinely good at this.
Rosie and Sofie, the clinic dogs, don't hurt either.
NOT SURE WHAT YOU NEED?
That's Exactly What We’re Here For.
You don't have to arrive knowing the answer. Most people don't. Tell us where you're going, what form you're trying to complete, or what's sending you in circles — and we'll help you figure out the next step.
